Ernest J. Salamone

The oldest living member of the International League Baltimore Orioles has passed away.  
We salute his wonderful life and his contribution to the game and those whose lives he touched. He was 93.  

We will remember him.

SALAMONE , Ernest J.  On June 29, 2007 ERNEST J. SALAMONE (Ernie) 93, beloved husband of 70 years to Minnie, nee Harthausen, passed away. He was the devoted father of Ernest S. Salamone and wife, Sandy, Carol Ann Wright and husband, Bob, Annette Cipolla and husband Charles, Marianne Schwartz and husband Ron, Suzanne Corbett and husband, Scott. He was the adored grandfather of six, great-grandfather of eight and great-great-grandfather of one. He is also survived by three brothers, three sisters and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Salamone made his home in Salisbury, MD since 1992 and was formerly of Baltimore, MD. He played baseball in 1933 to 1936 for the International League, a forerunner of the now Baltimore Orioles. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Accounting Department after 37 years. He also was employed by the Orioles at Memorial Stadium for 37 years. A lifetime member and past president of the Old-timers Baseball Association of Maryland and was also inducted into Old-timers Baseball Hall of Fame.
